Hunter at 9 months old with Tigger.

Hunter was not easy to take pictures of this month- most of his pictures looked like this.  How did people get good baby pictures before the days of digital cameras??

I thought it would be cute to take a picture of Hunter in a cowboy hat.  Hunter did not agree.

Where did the last 9 months go?

Love those little cheeks!

Trying to escape ;-)

Will he be a tip-toe walker like Hailey was?

Hailey 5 3/4 and Hunter 9 months

New stuff from this month:

Hunter went to Disney World :-)

Hunter got his third tooth- it’s on the top.  He has been super whiny with his top teeth.  The other top tooth is almost through, so I hope his mood improves when it finally breaks through.

Hunter started crawling!  I’m glad he waited until after our Disney trip to start crawling.  I was hoping he would wait since I knew once he really became mobile he wouldn’t be very happy to be in a stroller all day long.  A few days after we came home he started to crawl.  He’s been a busy, busy boy ever since he started crawling.  He gets into everything!  I don’t remember Hailey ever getting into as much as he does.  Maybe it’s a boy thing.  He tries to pull all the plugs out.  He takes the heating vents apart.  He loves going in the bathroom.  And of course Dottie’s dish is his favorite thing in the kitchen.  But he hasn’t figured out how to open the cupboard doors yet, so I’m sure he’ll enjoy that once he figures that out.

Let’s not even talk about sleep.

Hunter is still breastfeeding.  He eats baby food and some table foods.  So far he’s not really a big fan of table foods, so we’re working on that.

Hunter is 20 pounds, 6 oz (50th percentile) and is 28 3/4 inches long (70th percentile).  He is still mostly wearing 6-9 month clothes, but the 9-12 month clothes are starting to fit.  He is now in size 4 diapers (about $20 for 72 diapers, Huggies brand).

Hunter at 8 months old with Tigger

Some other pictures I took today:

I’m not sure what it is, maybe it’s the outfit, but I think Hunter looks much older than he did when I took pictures at 7 Months Old.

New stuff this month:

Hunter’s 2nd tooth came in right at the beginning of this month.

We finally saw a dermatologist about his rash.  She was no help at all.  She was really young and can’t possibly have much experience, so I am really frustrated.  She basically told us to use a bunch of expensive moisturizers and lotions.  The way the appointment went- she met with us, looked Hunter over, then left with the nurse.  Then the nurse came back in with instructions to get the rash to clear up.  So I couldn’t even tell the dermatologist that the pediatrician had actually thought of moisturizers/lotions before referring us.  By the end of the appointment Hunter was screaming, so I figured we’d try out her ideas (they are different moisturizers and lotions than we have ever used).  But her ideas have not worked and I had to go back to the prescription creams the pediatrician gave us.  When Hunter goes to his follow up in September I am requesting to see someone else.  The one thing that has gotten better is his cradle cap.  It had gotten so thick and so bad that it was making his hair start to fall out.  So I started putting Olive Oil on his head about 20 minutes before his bath and just letting it sit.  Then I would scrub his head with a soft baby brush and that really worked.  After a week there was a huge improvement!

Hunter now says “ma ma,” “da da,” and “ba ba.”  His favorite one to say is “ma ma” and he says it all the time.  I don’t know if he means anything by it, but I like to pretend he does.  He has also started his clapping hands.  When we try to get him to it, he won’t do it.  But as soon as we stop paying attention he’ll start clapping.  He also loves to mimic Hailey.  If she bangs on something, he bangs on something.  If she screeches, he screeches, etc.  It is so cute!  I also think that Hunter does the sign for “milk.”  It looks like he does it, he could just be squeezing his hand open and shut, but I really think sometimes he is asking for milk.

Hunter is not crawling yet.  He gets on his hands and knees and could crawl if he would just do it.  But instead he gets really mad and just cries.  He does manage to get around by scooting on his bottom.  I am in no hurry for him to crawl though, because once that happens I know I won’t be able to take my eyes off of him for a second!  Hunter can also sit himself up now.  He has been able to sit for a while if we put him in the sitting position but he can now get himself sitting up.

Sleep has been pretty awful!  Just in the last week he won’t stay asleep at all when I put him down in his swing.  I get him to sleep but as soon as I try to lay him down for his nap he wakes right up.  Usually at night he stays asleep for a couple of hours in his bed before he starts waking up.  Someday he’ll sleep, at least that’s what I keep telling myself (Right now, I am typing while I am holding him so he’ll stay asleep.).  The only good thing in sleep related news is that Hunter is on a schedule- he naps around 10am and 2:30pm and is ready for bed around 7:30pm.

I have given up hope that Hunter will ever take a bottle.  I had a stash of frozen milk that I finally had to throw away.  He nurses about every 4-5 hours during the day and he eats baby food (fruit for breakfast, veggie for lunch, dinner for dinner.).  He seems to like his baby food, which makes it a little easier for my parents to watch him once in a while so Rich and I can go out.  I don’t have to rush home every other hour to nurse him since he’s eating baby food and going longer between feedings.

Hunter did not have an appointment this month, so I tried to do my own measuring at home.  I think he weighs about 20 lbs and I think he’s about 28.25 inches.  He is still in 6-9 month clothes, but some of his onesie shirts are getting a little hard to snap, so I’ve started getting out some of the 9-12 month clothes.  He is still in size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 diapers at night.

Hunter at 7 months old with Tigger

Hunter in Lake Placid

Trying Cheerios for the first time.

Despite the faces, he seemed to like them.

See those little teeth- so cute!  The 2nd one is not quite through yet.

I can’t believe it’s already been 7 months!!

Hailey- 5 3/4 and Hunter- 7 months

New stuff this month:

Hunter just got his first tooth a few days ago (on July 12th).  The other one is just under his gums and will hopefully be all the way in soon.

Hunter had his first ear infection this month:-(  It was actually caused by the rash that he has, the one that started Memorial Day weekend.  He isn’t covered from head to toe anymore, but it’s still on a lot of his body.  The rash was also in his ears and then the skin started to peel.  The peeling skin blocked his little ears, and they got inflamed and then infected.  Poor little man cub had to have his ears flushed out so they could see inside.  He cried so hard and it broke my heart.  Once they were clean it was clear that both ears were infected.  Hunter is going to a dermatologist next week and I sure hope we can figure out this rash.

Sleep- Ugh!  Hopefully once Hunter’s second tooth comes in he will start sleeping better.  Lately he’s been waking up an hour or two after he goes to bed and he will not stay asleep unless he comes to bed with us.  Naps are okay, but he is still napping in his swing.

Hunter is still breastfeeding and refuses to take a bottle.  When my mom tries to give him a bottle he blows raspberries on the bottle and will not take it.  He’s a stubborn little man.  He also eats baby food at lunch and dinner and for the most part likes everything he tries.

Hunter did not have an appointment this month, so based on me trying to weigh him at home, he’s about 19 pounds.  He still wears 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diapers (size 4 at night).

6 Months Old

Hunter at 6 months old with Tigger.  How has half a year already gone by?

Love that little face!

Hunter tried out his sippy cup today.  He did not want to put it in his mouth… he puts everything else in his mouth, but not the cup.

Hunter is so proud that he can sit up all by himself.

Hunter also enjoys rolling from back to front.  He hates being on his stomach though, so he usually cries as soon as he realizes what he’s done.

Hailey- 5 1/2 and Hunter- 6 months

New stuff from this last month:

Hunter can now roll from back to front.  He can sit up by himself (we have to sit him up, but he can stay up once we sit him up.)  Hunter also puts his pacifier in his mouth by himself.

Hunter has had a rash for the last 2 weeks… we’re not exactly sure what is causing it at this point.  At first the doctor thought it was a heat rash, then he thought it was a grass rash.  Now he says it is Seborheic Dermatitis, which is basically cradle cap… except he has it everywhere.  So we are using a couple different creams to try to get it to clear up.  I am praying that it clears up soon as it really seems to be itchy for my poor little man.

Sleep- Hunter is still getting up a couple of times during the night.  Since he usually goes right back to sleep, I won’t complain.  He usually takes 3 naps per day- an early morning nap, an early afternoon nap and an early evening nap.  His naps are usually about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.  He is still napping in his swing.

Hunter is still breastfeeding and also eating some baby food.  He usually nurses about every 3 hours.

Hunter is 18 pounds 6 oz (70th percentile) and is 27 1/2 inches long (80th percentile).  He is still wearing 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diapers (about $20 for 96 diapers in the Huggies brand).
