Thanksgiving 2012

November 24th, 2012 Melanie Posted in Celebrations, Family, Hailey, Hunter | No Comments »

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving two times :-)   2 weeks before the actual Thanksgiving we traveled with my parents to stay at Matt and Ellie’s house, and my brother Mike also traveled to their house.  We all stayed for the weekend and it was lots of fun!!

Hunter was trying to decide what he thought about his first Thanksgiving dinner.  The other side of his bib has a turkey on it, guess I put it on the wrong way.  Oops!

Matt and Ellie made a very delicious Thanksgiving meal!!  Yummy!!

Later it was time for some games:

Aunt Ellie, Uncle Matt and Uncle Mike played Monopoly Jr with Hailey.

Everyone had fun playing Disney Hedbanz

It was a fun weekend and so nice to have everyone together.  That just doesn’t happen often enough.

On Thanksgiving Day we went to my parents house for a yummy dinner.  I tired to take some pictures before we left.

Hunter was not very cooperative :-)

Happy first Thanksgiving Little Man Cub

My pretty little miss, all ready to go to Grandma and Pa’s house.

Still trying to make it difficult to take a picture.

Hailey had to sneak up behind Hunter while he was playing so I could take their picture together.

Hunter wasn’t sure what to think of Pa with his turkey hat on.

Uncle Dave and my dad worked on carving the turkey while Mike supervised.

Hailey all ready to eat some yummy food.  Everything was so delicious!!

11 Months Old

November 16th, 2012 Melanie Posted in Hunter, Monthly Updates | No Comments »

Hunter got sick the evening before he turned 11 months.  He started feeling warm during the evening and by 10:30pm he was super hot and throwing up.  I was ready to take him to the ER but his pediatrician talked to me (I LOVE Hailey and Hunter’s pediatrician!) and told me the high fever came with the virus going around and that it was okay, I didn’t need to take him to the ER.  Anyways, he wasn’t really in the mood for many pictures, so here are a few that I did take:

Tigger with Hunter, 11 months old

Hailey was home from school, also feeling sick (with a horrible cough).  Hailey and Hunter read a book together.

Hunter- 11 months (and not in the mood for anymore pictures) and Hailey- 6 years old.

Earlier this month, Hunter started standing on his own, without holding on.  This picture it from a couple of weeks ago, but I had to include his big accomplishment!

Other new things this month:

Hunter’s 5th tooth came in.  Yay!

Hunter has a few words… it’s amazing how fast he picks everything up!!  He says mama and dada (which stands for Daddy and Dottie).  Hunter also says “Hey-yee” for Hailey.   He holds phones up to his ear and says “Hey-yo.”  His favorite thing to say is “Uh-oh!”  He loves to throw things on the floor or “drop” them and say “Uh-oh.”  When we ask Hunter what the cow says he gets a big smile and says “Baaaaa.”  No matter how many times we tell him it’s “moooo” he still smiles and says “Baaaaa.”  Hunter also knows several signs- he does signs for more, eat, drink, doggie and milk.

Hunter gets into everything and definitely keeps me on my toes!!  He is one busy little guy.  He is funny too- one day he took apart the heating vent in the living room, which he knows he’s not supposed to do.  He left it lying on the floor and quickly crawled to the kitchen and sat down. Then every few seconds he would crawl back and peek into the living room at the vent he had taken apart.

Sleep is the same as it always has been.

Hunter is still nursing, he nurses 3 times during the day and usually once or twice during the night.  He eats some table foods, but is still mostly eating baby foods.  With the table foods he just chews and chews and never swallows,  so I guess he’s not really ready for them yet.

No appointment this month, so I don’t know his height/weight.  He is still wearing 12 month clothes and wearing size 4 diapers.

All ready to go to the Autumn Fest at school.

Cleaning out the pumpkin guts, or as Hailey corrected me- pumpkin pulp.

Hunter was pretty excited to get a look inside the pumpkin

Hailey has actually been 6 for almost 3 weeks but I wanted to wait until she had her 6 year physical to post so I would know her height. She is now 46 1/2 inches tall and in the 75th percentile.

Developmentally- Hailey is in first grade and is doing fantastic!! She loves school and loves learning. When I ask her if she likes school she says, “I don’t like it.  I LOVE it!”  Hailey loves to read!  She is such a good reader and is always up for a challenging book.  She does great with all of her school work, she is such a hard worker.

A few of Hailey’s favorite things at age 6: “I like grilled cheese.  I like to have fun with my family.  I like playing with Barbies, coloring in coloring books, doing puzzles and watching movies.  My favorite friends are Morgan, Daniel, Emily and Josh.”
