Some Things to Remember

October 26th, 2009 Melanie Posted in Hailey, The Things She Says No Comments »

3 is such a fun age!  Here are a few of the things that Hailey has said or done that made me smile.

One of her favorite things to say when she is annoyed is, “Oh brother.”

**********

Instead of saying ‘because’ Hailey says, “pecause.”  And instead of saying ‘remember’ she says “bemember.”  And I hope she talks like that forever ;)

**********

One day at breakfast time Hailey was asking for cookies to go with her cereal and toast.  So, I told her that we don’t eat cookies for breakfast.  Hailey responded by saying,  ”Well then let’s just have lunch.”

**********

We just started going to MOPS where we live now and I told Hailey what it was called and what it would be like.  After I picked her up from her MOPPETS class she said, “I had fun but I looked all over and couldn’t find any mops.”

**********

The other day while Hailey was eating her snack I heard her say to her fingers “You’d better get ready!  You’re going on a wet ride!” Then she put them in her mouth to lick them off.

**********

Hailey was crying and I asked her what was wrong and she said, “I don’t have a handsome prince to marry.”

Questions for My 3 Year Old

October 22nd, 2009 Melanie Posted in Hailey, The Things She Says 2 Comments »

I saw this on Facebook a while ago- some fun questions to ask your kids.  So I wanted to wait until Hailey turned 3 to ask her these questions and I added a few of my own questions too.  I’m hoping I’ll remember to ask her these same questions every year right around her birthday to see how her answers change.

1. What is something mommy always says to you? You’re my little sweetie

2. What makes mommy happy? Going sledding

3. What makes mommy sad? Nothing

4. How does your mommy make you laugh? Tickle my armpit

5. What was your mommy like as a child? I don’t know, tell me

6. How old is your mommy? I think she’s 3

7. How tall is your mommy? I don’t know.  Tall, tall, tall

8. What is her favorite thing to do? Play games and play tackle

9.What does mommy do when you’re not around? She would cry

10. If your mommy becomes famous, what will it be for? Famous?  I’m famous

11. What is your mommy really good at? Good at playing games

12. What is your mom not very good at? Tell me

13. What does your mommy do for her job? She gets cookies

14. What is your mommy’s favorite food? Chocolate

15. What makes you proud of your mommy? Going sledding

16. If your mommy were a cartoon character, who would she be? Buzz Light Year

17. What do you and your mommy do together? Going sledding (I have no idea why so many answers were “go sledding.”  I don’t really even like sledding because I don’t like going out in the cold.)

18. How are you and your mommy the same? We like pumpkin seeds

19. How are you and your mommy different? I love going sledding

20. How do you know your mommy loves you? Tell me

22. Where is your mommy’s favorite place to go? To see Buzz Light Year

Some favorites:

Favorite game: Tackle
Favorite toy: My red bicycle
Favorite song: ABCs

Hailey

September 10th, 2009 Melanie Posted in Hailey, The Things She Says 9 Comments »

Here’s what Hailey has had to say lately:

“I am losing my patience.” (I have no idea where she heard that one!)

*****

“Daddy come quick… there’s something dangerous!” (I think it was a spider.)

*****

After my cousin and his wife had a baby, Hailey told me that “She had a boy, he’s named Abraham Lincoln.”

*****

Hailey was mad at me because I wouldn’t let her do something she wanted to do and she told me, “Well then I’m not going to be a ballerina.”

*****

Hailey was trying to put a dress on one of her dolls.  Once she finally got it on she said, “Mission completed! It fits now.”

*****

I was trying to set the table and Hailey was putting books where I was trying to put dishes.  I told her the books were in the way and she had to move them and she said to me, “I need to take a different approach.”

*****

Hailey was not able to get a toy up the stairs and said, “Now we have to scrub the mission.”  I have no idea what the mission was!

*****

Hailey was building with her blocks when Rich was asking her a question about what she was building. She said, “Daaaaaad don’t confuse me by talking to me when I’m making Cinderella’s castle”

*****

One of Hailey’s favorite things to say is “apparently” and she is always trying to throw that word in to conversations and into books that she is reading.

*****

Rather than say “in a couple minutes” or “in a little while” Hailey says, “In a couple whiles.”

*****

We went to lunch the other day and as the waitress was walking away Hailey said, “Wow Mom, she’s awfully old.”

Random Comments From the Rocking Chair

August 14th, 2009 Melanie Posted in Hailey, The Things She Says No Comments »

This post has been in draft for more than a month… guess it’s time to get it posted!
The other night while Iwas rocking Hailey at bedtime she made the following comments:
  • Said, “Do those eye brows looks like bananas?”
  • Asked, “How old are you?  How old is Daddy?  How old is Dottie?  How old is Gramma’s pup?  How old is Dora?  How old is Boots?”
  • Asked, “What is Anika doing?”
  • Asked, “Is Anika dreaming about playing with me?”
  • Said, “Where is Anika’s Daddy?”
  • Hailey curled up her legs so that she was in the shape of an S and said, “Is this how the seahorse looks?”

I love getting a little glimpse into how her mind works!
