What Has Hailey Said Lately?

October 25th, 2011 Melanie Posted in Hailey, The Things She Says No Comments »

Hailey has been having a hard time listening lately so the other night at bedtime I told her maybe she should pray and ask Jesus to help her be a better listener.  So she did.  The next morning she wasn’t listening again and said to me, “I asked God to help me be good.  And see how that’s going?  I’m already being bad.”

**********

Hailey was looking through our DVDs for a movie and she couldn’t find the one she wanted.  She suggested to me that maybe if I had them better organized she would be able to find what she was looking for.  (This sounds a lot like something her Uncle Matt said when he was younger and requested that my mom alphabetize the videos for him.)

**********

Hailey came home from school on a Friday and told me that everyone was cheering that it was Friday because there would be no school for 2 days.  She said, “But not me, mom.  I didn’t cheer because I love going to school!”

**********

Hailey was talking to the baby the other night and she looked up at me and said, “Wow Mom, your belly button looks like a volcano.”

**********

After mentioning that my belly button looked like a volcano, Hailey told me that she thought my stomach might be cracking.  Gotta love stretch marks.

Hailey just said to Rich (while he is watching the Vikings play), “Dad- did you know that no one from Minnesota can hear you?”

Fun at Four and Three Quarters

August 23rd, 2011 Melanie Posted in Hailey, The Things She Says 1 Comment »

Hailey tells everyone that she is 4 and 3/4.  Here are some of the things she has said recently that I want to remember:

At church I told Hailey she could eat some goldfish once the preacher started preaching.  A few minutes later there were some announcements being made and Hailey whispered loudly to me, “Is he screeching yet?”

********

Hailey told me she wanted to start shaving her legs.  Then she told me she knew her legs would get hairy like a gorilla.

********

I can’t remember if I posted this before- but every night when Hailey prays she prays for Captain Hook and Mr. Smee.

********

Instead of saying “other”, Hailey says “nother.”  So she would say “I want to play the nother game.”

********

Hailey has started asking me questions like,  ”Are mermaids real?”  and “Is Peter Pan in real life?”  and “Why do you think it seems like there are a lot of Santas?”  I’m not ready for her to stop believing in the magic yet… sniff, sniff

The Things Hailey Says

June 13th, 2011 Melanie Posted in Hailey, The Things She Says 1 Comment »

This one is really old but apparently I never posted it- We watched The Grinch back at Christmas time and Hailey started out saying she didn’t like the Grinch and that he was a bad guy.  After she watched for a little while she said, “I think the Grinch just needs someone to love him.”

********

Hailey came out of her room holding her scissors and said, “Mom, next time you need to cut my hair, guess what you can use?” So I asked her if she had cut her hair. She said, “Why? Does it look like I did?”

********

When we decided it was time to tell Hailey that she is going to be a big sister in December- we told her that we had something we wanted to tell her. She was pretty excited to hear whatever we were going to tell her.  But after we told her, she said “Aren’t you going to tell me something fun?”

********

We told Hailey that we are going to need to move her toys out of the playroom and into her bedroom and our family room so we can use the playroom as a room for the baby.  Later, I overheard Hailey tell Rich that instead of moving her toys out of the playroom that maybe the baby could just sleep in the garage.

********

While reading a book about being a big sister I noticed that Hailey’s eyes were tearing up.  I asked her if she had gotten something in her eye.  She said, “No, it’s a nice story and it’s making me cry.”

********

Hailey was not listening so I started counting, which usually makes her run to do whatever she is supposed to be doing. Instead she just stood there and when I got to 3 she looked at me and said, “Well, now what?”

********

Hailey was jumping on the couch in the living room and I was in the hallway where I could not see her and said, “You’d better not be jumping on the couch.”  So she said, “How did you know I was jumping on the couch?” And I said, “Moms know everything.” So she said, “Well I think you could just hear it.”  Then about a few minutes later she said, “Did you know I just tooted?”  Not thinking about our previous conversation I said, “No.” She replied, “Well I guess moms don’t know everything.”

********

We found a gross looking caterpillar/centipede/ something or other in our yard and couldn’t figure out what it was. Hailey wanted to bring it to show Pa, because as she said, “Pa knows everything, doesn’t he mom?”
