I’ve Graduated…

May 27th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Hailey, Me 16 Comments »

…from Momma to Mommy. Actually more of a Mom-ME! But still.

I posted the other day that Da-Da had become Daddy and I was happy to still be Momma.  And guess what happened the very next day?  I became Mommy.

Why does that make me sad?  It just does.

Why does it make me just a little bit sad that Hailey doesn’t cry for me anymore when I bring her to the nursery at church?  I am happy that she loves to go. As soon as I tell her we are getting ready for church she starts talking about the “bay-BEE” (baby) because she loves to play with the dolls there.

When we got to church on Sunday she ran down the hall to her class.  Ran.  Towards the nursery.  Away from ME.  And when we got there she put her hands out to one of the nursery workers.  Away from ME.  Her Momma Mom-ME.  And even though I am happy I don’t have to listen outside the door to hear how long she cries anymore- it hurts my heart, just a little bit, that she doesn’t.

Mommy Guilt

May 20th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Me 22 Comments »

This has been bothering me for a while now.  I keep thinking I should blog about it and maybe I’ll feel better.  But, then I keep finding other things to blog about so that I can avoid what has been bothering me.

I have been feeling like such a bad mommy for a while.  Then several weeks ago I was reading on someones blog about how someone else had told her what a great mommy she was.  So, I started thinking that I didn’t think anyone had ever told me that.

A little while later we were visiting at my parents house and my dad was talking about what a great mother my mom is.  And she is- she is a fabulous mom.  And she did tons of stuff with me and my brothers when we were little.  She is still like that- always there for us no matter what.  She’s definitely the best mom ever.  So, anyways, I started thinking some more and wondering if anyone would ever talk about me that way.  You know talk about how I did such a great job with Hailey.

Every day when I get up I vow that today will be a new day.  I will spend lots of time with Hailey.  We will play together, we will read together, we will do art activities together.  We will sing and laugh and it will be a wonderful day.

But that isn’t what happens.  I have to spend a lot of time on the computer.  Writing sponsored posts, trying to drive traffic to my blogs so I can write more sponsored posts, trying to come up with posts to put on my blogs so that people will want to come back again, etc.  It might not seem like much but so often I spend almost the whole day in front of my computer working.

Most of that time Hailey has to entertain herself.  And she is usually pretty good.  I do take breaks to play with her, but it’s just not what I want.  I want to give her all of my attention and not have to even look at my computer.  But I can’t because we need the extra income I am getting right now (because of this).  I just keep thinking about how fast these days are going by and how I feel like I am missing everything because I spend so much time in front of my computer.

And then I wonder if in 30 years Rich will be telling Hailey how wonderful I was as her mommy.  And right now, I don’t think so.

5 Things About This Mom

May 13th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Hailey, Me 5 Comments »

The MommyFest blog party is well under way and I am having a blast meeting new mommy bloggers!  There are contests going on as well- which you can check out at MommyFest.  Today I am entering a contest to win a $20 Amazon gift certificate.  All I have to do to enter to win is post “5 Things About This Mom.”

So, here’s my 5 things:

  1. Ever since I can remember I have wanted to be a mommy.
  2. I always assumed that when I was ready to have children it would be easy to get pregnant.  But after several years of trying to get pregnant and having two miscarriages I felt ready to give up on my dream of being able to have children.
  3. After lots of praying and finding an amazing doctor- who was able to help us through my PCOS, endometriosis, thyroid issues, low levels of hormones needed to maintain a pregnancy, and several other problems- I was able to get pregnant with Hailey.
  4. Being a mommy to Hailey has definitely changed my life- for the better of course.
  5. Even after 19 months sometimes I still look at Hailey and just can’t believe that my dream of being a mommy finally came true!

Before you get back to your blog party hopping, make sure you check out my giveaway- there are two prizes up for grabs.  Go HERE to enter.

Meme Monday

May 5th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Me, Meme Monday 8 Comments »

Meme Monday - Hosted By: LivinWithMe.Com!

Is it time for Meme Monday already?  Wow!  The weeks sure do fly by fast.

So- what’s Meme Monday all about?  Every week we save up everything we are tagged to do and then post all of the memes we have been tagged with each Monday.  We also use it to post the awards we have received during the week before.  Get all of the details right here.

For the last two Meme Mondays I didn’t have anything to post because no one had tagged me.  So, some of you must have felt bad for me last week and decided to tag me.  I’m not going to post everything today though because that would be too overwhelming.  So, if you tagged me I will eventually get around to doing it just not necessarily today.

I was tagged by Zam for this high school meme.  Some of the questions I won’t be able to answer because I’m pretty sure the school system that Zam grew up in was a lot different than the one I grew up in.  But, I’ll do my best.

THINK BACK TO 4th year high school… Let’s see how much you remember and how much you regret.

What section were you?
This question, for example, I don’t know what a section is.  So, we didn’t have sections where I went to school.

Who were your seatmates?
I’m also not really sure what this means.  We had nine different class periods throughout the day so depending on which class I was in I had different people I sat next to.

Still remember your english teacher?
I won’t be putting her name here, but I do remember.  Which is pretty surprising considering I rarely went to her class.  Maybe once or twice a week I would show up.  I did well in her class and she didn’t care if I came to class, so I didn’t usually go.

What was your first class?
I have no idea. I can’t believe I don’t remember. I can remember what I had at all of the other times of the day but I can not remember what my first class was.  It’s driving me crazy!

Made friends to the lower years?
Yes, I did.  And much to my parents dismay there was a certain boy who was younger me that I spent lots of time with- and he was trouble.

How was your class schedule?
It was great.

Made any enemies?
I don’t think so.  I can’t remember making any enemies.

Who was your favorite teacher(s)???
My calculus teacher.

What sport did you play?
HA!  Me?  Play a sport?  That is just too funny.

Were you a party animal?
No.  I had lots of great times with my friends but I wouldn’t consider us to have been party animals.

Were you well known in your school?
I don’t think so.  I knew a lot of the people who were in the same grade as me but as far as school wide I don’t think I was well known.

SKIP CLASSES?
A little too much.

Did you get suspended/expelled?
I had in school suspension… for skipping too many classes.  Which makes a whole lot of sense to me- you don’t go to class so you get suspended from going to class.  Huh???

Can you sing the alma mater?
Some of it.

What was your favorite subject?
Math

Did you go to the dances?
Just to the prom.

Where did you go most often during breaks?
Out of the building to various food establishments nearby.  That is actually how I met Rich ;)

What did you do on the last day of school?
I have no idea.

Well, that was a fun little trip down memory lane!  If you’d like to play along let me know so I can read yours too!

**********

Then I received this award from Dana at Just Talk.

Awww, thank you so much Dana!  I think you rock too!!

And that’s all for this week.  If you haven’t entered my giveaway yet and you want a chance to win a set of BPA-free Evenflo sippy cups then be sure to click here to enter.

If you participated in Meme Monday this week it’s time to sign Mr. Linky and then visit the other participants.
