I can’t believe that it’s been a week since I’ve posted anything.  I guess I’ve just been busy.  Actually I have been posting every day at Our Crafts ~N~ Things- so if you’re looking for fun activities to do with your toddler or preschooler you can check out my other blog.

Anyhoo- I figured I should do a little updating.

I don’t know if you remember or not- but last year around this time Hailey was diagnosed with trigger thumb on her right hand.  (Trigger thumb basically means that her thumb is stuck in the bent position because of a swollen tendon that can not glide like it is supposed to.)  The doctor recommended surgery to correct the problem.  I put it off and put it off since I am scared to death of Hailey having anesthesia.  Well- I’m glad I did.  Because not too long ago I noticed her left thumb was the same way.  So we went back to the doctor and he confirmed it- she has trigger thumb in that hand too.  Apparently about 30% of the time if you have it in one hand you have it in both.  So, now she has to have surgery on both hands.  But I am glad I waited because now we can get it done all at once.

Hailey also went to see an allergy/asthma specialist.  Even though she is completely healthy right now she still coughs every time she plays hard, laughs hard, has a tantrum or is out in the cold for an extended time.  She now has an official diagnosis of asthma.  And we are trying a new medication to see if it will control the asthma better.  She is also having some blood work done to look and see if she has any allergies.  The doctor does not think she displays symptoms of allergies but he just wants to rule it out.  He said if she does not have allergies and this is just plain asthma that she will probably outgrow it.  But, if it’s allergies it will be something she will always have to deal with.  So, we are praying for no allergies.

That is about all we have been up to over the last week.  I’ll keep you posted about when she is going to have surgery and let you know what happens at her next appointment with the allergy/asthma specialist.

I went and changed into my sweatpants and an old sweatshirt to do some cleaning and Hailey looked at me and said, “Are those your old lady clothes?”

I wanted Hailey to come and get dressed the other morning but I thought she might be working on a surprise in her diaper for me.  I told her to come on to get dressed and she responded by saying, “In a minute I am.  I have to finish my business.  Let’s leave stinky alone.”

Hailey wasn’t listening and was not doing what she was supposed to do so Rich told her sternly that she had better start listening.  She said, “You’re making the little girl sad.

Hailey was trying to torture Dottie by chasing her around the house with her doll stroller.  Rich took the stroller and put it away where Hailey couldn’t get it.  Hailey came to me with tears in her eyes and said, “Mommy, how come Daddy thinks I’m not special?”

Hailey and I were talking about what different relatives do for their jobs.  She likes to talk about how Gramma helps the kids learn their ABC’s and how Uncle Matt plays with chemicals.  So, she went through the list of everyone and she told me what everyone does.  When she was finished I said, “And what does Mommy do?”  She smiled at me and said, “Mommy gets to get Hailey.”

Where, oh where has the time gone?

About two weeks ago I posted and told you about how Hailey was sick with pneumonia.  Since then I’ve had some emails from people wanting to know how she was doing.  First of all- thank you so much for caring enough to email me and ask how Hailey is feeling.  That meant a lot to me!!

Anyhoo- a couple of days after starting her antibiotic Hailey was acting a whole lot better.  We were still dealing with some throwing up and diarrhea… I’m not sure if it was still the stomach bug or if her antibiotic was bothering her stomach.  But, by the weekend Hailey was pretty much back to her normal self.  I took her back last Wednesday for a re-check and her lungs sounded perfect.  Thank you so much for your prayers!!

Then last Friday Hailey started coughing again, had a stuffy nose and little rash.  I waited until Saturday to make sure the rash wasn’t just a skin irritation (she has very sensitive skin) and the rash was still there, so I took her back to the doctor.  The doctor said the rash is part of a virus and is nothing to be worried about.  Hailey’s lungs still sounded nice and clear but the doctor wants us to keep using the nebulizer treatments. 

As of today- the rash is just about gone and doesn’t seem to bother Hailey at all.  Her stuffy nose is gone.  The cough is still here.  In fact last night she woke up around 10:30 pm coughing.  When I brought her a drink she smiled at me and said, “I am so hyper Mommy.”  She didn’t go back to sleep until 2:15 am.  Why can’t they make a nebulizer treatment that doesn’t make her hyper?

So- thanks again for praying that Hailey’s pneumonia would clear up.  Please keep her in your prayers that this cough goes away and doesn’t turn into pneumonia again.  And also- pray that she sleeps!
