First Day of Kindergarten

September 7th, 2011 Melanie Posted in Growing Up, Hailey, School Days No Comments »

I can’t believe that my little miss started kindergarten today.  She has been very excited about going and was getting pretty bored of just hanging out with me all summer.  Here are some pictures of her first day:

A yummy breakfast of toast with jelly, sausage and cocoa puffs (dry).

Hailey in the outfit she picked out for the first day.

Her Scooby Doo lunch bag.  She also has a Smurf lunch bag, but picked Scooby Doo for the first day.

The princess book bag.

All ready for school and looking so grown up.

Hailey in her seat in her classroom.

Rich and I took her for her first day and she looked very worried when we were leaving.  We only stayed a couple of minutes to get her settled.  She kept saying, “I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.”  So I helped her find a hook for her book bag and find her seat.  Then I gave her a quick hug and kiss and we left.  (And I didn’t cry until we were back in the car!)

It was a crazy day because we are having some major flooding and schools ended up dismissing early. So I had to pick Hailey up 2 hours early.  When I went to the cafeteria to pick her up (that’s where the kids getting picked up are supposed to be) she wasn’t there so I had to go to her classroom to get her. Her teacher told me she did great and had a wonderful day!

Hailey told me she felt kind of happy and a little bit shy before school but when she got to school she felt wonderful. Her favorite thing she did today was go to gym class.  She is so excited to go back tomorrow. I kind of think with all the evacuations and road closures due to flooding she won’t have school, which she is not happy about.  But I’m glad she likes it so much!!  It makes it a little easier on me knowing she is having so much fun.

Fun at Four and Three Quarters

August 23rd, 2011 Melanie Posted in Hailey, The Things She Says 1 Comment »

Hailey tells everyone that she is 4 and 3/4.  Here are some of the things she has said recently that I want to remember:

At church I told Hailey she could eat some goldfish once the preacher started preaching.  A few minutes later there were some announcements being made and Hailey whispered loudly to me, “Is he screeching yet?”

********

Hailey told me she wanted to start shaving her legs.  Then she told me she knew her legs would get hairy like a gorilla.

********

I can’t remember if I posted this before- but every night when Hailey prays she prays for Captain Hook and Mr. Smee.

********

Instead of saying “other”, Hailey says “nother.”  So she would say “I want to play the nother game.”

********

Hailey has started asking me questions like,  ”Are mermaids real?”  and “Is Peter Pan in real life?”  and “Why do you think it seems like there are a lot of Santas?”  I’m not ready for her to stop believing in the magic yet… sniff, sniff

Another Day at Knoebels

August 15th, 2011 Melanie Posted in Family, Hailey, Rich No Comments »

Earlier this summer we spent a day at Knoebels and Hailey had so much fun we decided to take her back again.

Riding the kiddie bumper cars.

Driving the firetruck

The kiddie car whip.  She loved it!

The “up and down” ride.  This was Hailey’s favorite ride.

Ladybug ride

Out for an afternoon drive

Will they get wet?  (Hailey and Rich are in the 4th row back on the right hand side.)

Big splash

And they’re soaked!  (or “soaped” as Hailey says it.)

Standing on the bridge hoping to get wet again.

I think she liked it :-)

They did not like this ride!  It made both of them dizzy.

Hailey loved the slide!

Fun in the ball pit

My little miss on a roller coaster

Airplane Whip ride

Last ride of the day- the Ferris Wheel- which she did not like.

It was such a fun day!!  Watching Hailey laughing and having so much fun made the day perfect even though I couldn’t go on any of the rides.

Local Festival

August 9th, 2011 Melanie Posted in Hailey, Rich No Comments »

We went to a local fest over the weekend and here are some pictures of the fun times:

Hailey wanted to have her hair painted- she picked one pink pigtail and one green pigtail.

The finished look.

Rich decided to enter his name in a drawing to win a free hot air balloon ride.  When they picked a winner the person wasn’t there to accept the prize, so they picked again- and Rich won!  Here he is on the radio talking about winning.  Unfortunately he wasn’t able to go on it because it was too rainy.

Hailey with Larry and Bob

Waiting for the iCarly concert to start.

Shane Harper was the opening act for iCarly and Hailey wanted me to take his picture because she thought he was handsome.

Yay!  Finally iCarly is singing!

Hailey enjoyed the concert.

The $3 slide.. .which if you know Rich then you know it nearly killed him to pay $3 for Hailey to go on a slide.

We went back the next day too but the only picture I have is this one of Hailey with her face painted.  It was a fun weekend.
