This Water Tastes Funny

June 12th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Hailey, Rich No Comments »

Hailey has this little cup that came with her set of play dishes she got for Christmas.  She recently decided that she wants to try drinking out of a regular cup rather than a sippy cup.  So, she carries this little cup around and hands it to me every once in a while and says, “The waa peeezzzz”  (the water please).  And I usually put a little water in the cup for her.

So, the other night while Rich was riding around the living room on her Dora car, Hailey handed the cup to him and then waited for him to drink it.  So, he took it a sip.

“This water tastes funny to me.  Where did she get this water?”  He asked me.

So, I told him I had been giving her water from the sink for her little cup.

A few minutes later Rich saw Hailey take her cup, dip it into Dottie’s water bowl and proudly announce “The waa.”

Wordless Wednesday #74

June 11th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Hailey, Wordless Wednesday 24 Comments »

Over the weekend we got Hailey’s pool set up.  Of course I have to show some pictures of her in the pool.

This was right after she got in, not exactly sure what to do.

After a few minutes Hailey started dumping the water on herself over and over again.

She tried several times to sit down, but the water just wasn’t warm enough to sit.

This was after she got out of the pool (obviously) and I just thought it was cute.

Stop by 5 Minutes for Mom for more wordlessness.

Random Pictures in the Life of a Toddler

June 10th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Hailey No Comments »

My post today has no rhyme or reason.

I know what you’re thinking- do her posts ever have rhyme or reason?  Well, I do my best.

Anyhoo, these are just some recent pictures of Hailey I have decided to share.

Out for a morning drive.

A “flower” picked especially for me.

Hailey loves to watch Rich shave.  The other morning she was in the bathroom with him and I could hear her giggling.  Then she came out to show me what was so silly- and insisted I take her picture, which she would not smile for.

Hailey is always putting blankets and toys on top of Dottie.  I have no idea what the fascination is, but she loves to do it.  And Dottie is so tolerant of Hailey.

I tried to get Hailey to pose with the Peonies.  This was as good as I could get.

We went to the park the other day to feed the ducks.  Hailey loved throwing them some bread.

I love this picture.  Hailey is holding Rich’s hand heart.  But you know what else?  She’s turning around to make sure I’m coming.

A Much Happier Mommy

June 5th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Hailey, Me 21 Comments »

A couple of weeks ago I did a post called Mommy Guilt where I told all of you how I have been feeling like a bad mommy for not spending enough time with Hailey.  And I wish I had posted it sooner.  You all made me feel so much better.  Every single one of your comments made me cry- you guys are all so sweet.  I love my blogging friends.

So many of you commented that you have the exact same feelings that I do- you feel like you just can’t do enough or be there enough for your kids.  And that the people who are the bad moms- they don’t worry about doing more for their kids.  This is one of the things I love so much about blogging- realizing that other moms have the exact same thoughts and feelings as I do.

Then there were the phone calls, emails and comments from the people who know me in real life. The people who have actually seen me in action with Hailey and know Hailey and what a happy little girl she is. Those meant so much to me because you all know me for real and have actually seen me with Hailey.

Having said all of that- I have been spending less time on the computer lately and it feels great!  I’m still working on my sponsored posts, which has been going great.  But, I have been cutting back on reading other blogs and commenting on other blogs.  Some of you may or may not have noticed.  I am still visiting all of my favorite blogs and commenting, just not as often as I was.  If you used to get a comment from me everyday you’ve probably noticed that I’m not doing that anymore.  So, I’ve been spending less time on the computer and I’m so much happier.

Anyhoo, all of that to say- thank you so much for your sweet comments.

And you know what?  You guys are right- I am a good mom.  This little smile right here is how I know!
