A Much Happier Mommy

A couple of weeks ago I did a post called Mommy Guilt where I told all of you how I have been feeling like a bad mommy for not spending enough time with Hailey.  And I wish I had posted it sooner.  You all made me feel so much better.  Every single one of your comments made me cry- you guys are all so sweet.  I love my blogging friends.

So many of you commented that you have the exact same feelings that I do- you feel like you just can’t do enough or be there enough for your kids.  And that the people who are the bad moms- they don’t worry about doing more for their kids.  This is one of the things I love so much about blogging- realizing that other moms have the exact same thoughts and feelings as I do.

Then there were the phone calls, emails and comments from the people who know me in real life. The people who have actually seen me in action with Hailey and know Hailey and what a happy little girl she is. Those meant so much to me because you all know me for real and have actually seen me with Hailey.

Having said all of that- I have been spending less time on the computer lately and it feels great!  I’m still working on my sponsored posts, which has been going great.  But, I have been cutting back on reading other blogs and commenting on other blogs.  Some of you may or may not have noticed.  I am still visiting all of my favorite blogs and commenting, just not as often as I was.  If you used to get a comment from me everyday you’ve probably noticed that I’m not doing that anymore.  So, I’ve been spending less time on the computer and I’m so much happier.

Anyhoo, all of that to say- thank you so much for your sweet comments.

And you know what?  You guys are right- I am a good mom.  This little smile right here is how I know!

  1. who says you’re not? how can you not be? your girl is so adorable and she’s happy. =)

  2. I am so glad you are feeling like a good mom because you are a GREAT mom. I have only seen one or two pictures of you – but I see you in Hailey’s face in that picture! If it helps, I have been cutting back on blogging too- reading, but not always commenting. Sometimes, skipping a day or two of reading. I just can’t keep up. (of course I read your blog everyday!!)

I am glad you found your balance. You made a really great point, maybe it was one of your great readers you were quoting, but that the being a good mommy is being one of the ones that worries about your kids and how you are affecting them. I never thought of it that way. I have some of the same issues you do, thanks for talking about it and letting me know there is someone else out there who struggles with the same things.

I’m finding myself starting to pull away from the computer, too…hopefully this will help with everything going on around the house.

I am so glad you recieved so much feed back on your blog as fas as being a bad and or good mom. I have 4 children, and it is hard sometime, I feel the same way as you, but looking at that picture of that beautiful happy child, you are doing something right. Keep up the good work….

hey there, we are actually doing the same now, I spent less time on my laptop and my blog now that my baby is starting to learn about the things and the people around her, and I sure don’t want to miss them just because of blogging.

btw, i joined the blogaholics anonymous club :)

don’t worry dear, it’s better to stop minding your blog than to stop minding your own baby. :P

I have decided not to spend quite as much time on line either.
Not that is is taking up Mommy time but it is taking up God time. So I promised Him that I would not go overboard.
Good for you being able to back off and enjoy this time.
Have a good summer….we will be here when the time is right.

  12. You ARE a great mom! I’ve been taking some time away from the computer as well and it’s been wonderful! I’ve been able to spend more quality time with my kids and get more house work done. It’s all about the balance! I’m so happy that you are happier now :)

She just makes me smile!!! I know you are a really good Mom!!!
I don’t have a little one but I have Nancy who will 46 this month and she takes a lot of care, and it has been easier for me since I have cut back on blogging every day and visiting each blog and leaving comments each day also.
You don’t be worrying about being a good Mommy! I could tell you were when I started reading your blog a year ago!! Every little girl should have a Mommy like you!!! Love and hugs Grams

YES YOU ARE A GREAT MOM! And I have noticed.

Kudos to you for stepping away. I did the same thing starting a few months ago and have never regretted it. Sometimes less is more, right? Best wishes friend.

I think we all need to step away from the computer every once in a while – I’m feeling the need to do the same thing, a little bit, too. What a gorgeous smile that little girl of yours has… :)
