Another use for Duct Tape
Does anyone know what this is?
That just so happens to be Rich’s laptop.
Any guesses as to why it is laying flat open like that?
Well, apparently if a toddler grabs a hold of a laptop screen and pulls backwards on the screen really hard it can cause permanent damage. To the laptop that is. Not the toddler. No toddlers were harmed during this experiment.
Now the screen will not stay up, it either slams closed or falls backwards like it is in the picture.
So I suggested maybe using some duct tape- put the screen at the correct angle, attach some duct tape it to the screen and then to the keyboard part- and it would hold the screen up. Rich looked at me like I was a crazy, stupid girl.
I asked Rich if I could please take a picture before he fixed it. I was trying not to laugh, but it was one of those times that I just couldn’t help myself.
He said “NO!” I told him that someday he might be able to laugh about it and he would surely want a picture to look back on. He repeated his previous answer “NO!”
Rich’s laptop is a couple of years old and he has been looking for a new one anyways, so I’m not sure why he can’t find the humor in all of this.
So, Rich took the laptop apart trying to figure out how to make the screen stay up. He couldn’t fix it.
While Rich was off looking for some duct tape I took a quick picture. I haven’t had a chance to sneak another picture now that it is “fixed.” But I will take one and I will post it as soon as possible.

Oh no! Riley grabs the screen on G’s laptop like that and used to do that to my work one. Thank goodness he never pulled it that hard or I would have had some serious explaining to do! I’m so sorry for the laptop!
Ouch! That had to hurt! I hold my breath every day waiting to see what Matthew is going to do next. Yay for the duct tape though!

YUP!!! My son (Avery) is forever walking up behind the laptop and pulling the screen back – thankfully no breaks…yet!

Oh no! Poor poor laptop! I have to admit I was cracking up though! I can’t wait to see the duct tape work!
My kids pull on mine all the time and I cringe every time they do for this very reason! Hopefully he’ll see the humor in this once he gets a new one
We had a laptop that looked just like that — all flat cuz the screen hinge thingys (aren’t I very technical?) were broken only in our case, it was done by the dog! And, believe it or not, we did do the duct tape thing and it got us through til we could replace the laptop!
That is sad! But I’m not going to laugh because Danayja almost caught mine a few times…

Haha. I wonder why Rich wouldn’t have any pic taken. Anyway, ditto with my son. One time he tried to twist the built in cam on hubster’s laptop…and so hubster bought him a toy laptop but he still insists on working on hubster’s laptop.
