It’s Been One of Those Days

You know about those days, right?

It started early this morning right around 12:15am when Hailey woke up.  That in itself is not all that unusual.  Most nights somewhere between 12:15am and 2:00am Hailey wakes up and I bring her to bed with us.  (Yes, I still do that, and it still works just fine for us, thank you very much.)

Anyhoo, last night was a little different than usual in that Hailey didn’t go back to sleep until around 4am.  Yes, indeed I said 4am.  She did sleep in until about 9am, but still- that was not enough sleep for her or for me.

We were supposed to go to story time at the library this morning, but there was no way that was going to happen.  I’m sure you can imagine how tired Hailey was this morning.  So, after lunch she went right down for her nap.  I thought surely she’d take a nice long nap after last night.  But nope- she didn’t even sleep for an hour.

The whining, crying and tantrums are enough to drive any sane person absolutely crazy.  And since I started out my day a bit on the grouchy side I’m sure you can imagine how I’m feeling right now.

But there’s only a couple more hours until I see this:

Just remember that you are going to miss these days. I know it is hard to believe but you actually will. I know-my house is very quiet and I lay awake at night listening to the silence.

  2. I’m sorry to hear about your day! That is never fun! I hope she isn’t getting sick or something that threw her day off like that. I will be praying tonight is better for you. That picture of her sleeping is precious!

Mel-I feel like we have the same life. We bring Max into bed when he wakes around 12 am. Sometimes, when he is teething or not feeling great, he wakes at 4 am and then we are up and then he is fussy and I am fussy and tired. We just had 2 nights of that and last nighty was fine-thank god since I really needed the sleep. HUGS!!

Yeah, but you know tomorrow will be better. It has to be, right? She’ll be full of loves and kisses all for Mommy – her way of saying she was sorry. :)

Wow, it certainly does appear to be one of those days1 Poor thing…Hailey, not you! Well at least she should sleep good! I see there is one pacifier in her mouth and one in her hand, good idea double insurance!

    Blissful sleep finally!!

LP did it twice when he was a baby (remember I posted about it?) and then about 2 weeks ago – he woke up at 1am & stayed awake till 4am! He was just chatting to himself, singing and just refused to go back to sleep – I can definitely relate to how YOU must be feeling! Hope she sleeps well tonite!

My mom gets on my case about bringing Ladybug to bed with us. I only do it when she’s teething or not feeling well. But it works and we get more sleep, so I won’t apologize for it either.

    Hope last night was better!

I love the “I give up” sleep position! I’m sorry it was such a rough day. I hope it helps to know that all kids have days like that, and you just have to grit your teeth and hang on for the next day. It will get better. (((HUGS)))

Oh Melanie – so sorry about your day. I always feel so guilty on those days that I just can’t take it anymore . . . those long tantrum filled days that seem to never end. And it’s SOOOO frustrating when you know all they need to do is sleep – and it would all be better.

Thinkin’ about you! Wish I could come hang with Hailey for a while so you could have a little break!

    Girl I remember those days.
Seems like mine would have the melt downs when we were in the car.
I would just turn the radio up….and roll down the windows.

Oh those days! My son would cry until he turned blue and passed out! Yup, stoped breathing, turned blue and passed out. Imagine out suprise the first time that happened!

You know the saying….’this too shall pass’

    Good Luck!

I keep telling myself I’m going to miss these days too. Toddler hugs, smiles and kisses – yes. Toddler tantrums and middle of the night wakefulness – no. :)

Does she have a soother in her mouth AND her hand in that bottom picture? How sweet!! And what a great idea!!

I hear you all too well about those days! Not so much the lack of sleep (surprisingly), but the whining, complaining, temper tantrums…
