Thankful Thursday #13

This week I can not help but to think about BooMama‘s trip to Uganda as I write my Thankful Thursday.  For those of you who do not read her blog, she went on a trip to Uganda with Compassion and I highly recommend that you read some of her recent posts (you could start with The Village or The Faces but really- it would probably be good for you to read all of her recent posts).  So this week I am thinking about some of the basic things that I have that I take for granted that so many of the children she visited to do not have.  Things like- indoor plumbing, running water, electricity, a home that is bigger than 6 feet by 8 feet, more than enough food- you know very simple things like that.  I just can not stop thinking about how fortunate I am and how much I really have.  We are all very wealthy when you consider how little so many others have.

  1. You’re so right! We do take things for granted. :-)

  2. Amen to that, Melanie – we are very wealthy with all the things we have in our lives. Thank you for the reminder that we should not always take for granted how blessed we are.

    Blessings to you and yours…

  5. Great Post! The simple things are really good things to be thankful for. They are simple to us but to be without them would be hard. Thanks for a good reminder to be thankful for what we have. God Bless~

God bless you for a welcome reality check!! We do tend to overlook and forget the simple things that we do have!

  8. I know…we really are SO fortunate and we take it for granted far too often!

  9. I think we are so lucky to all have been born here in America and yet it is the very reason we take so much for granted. I am thankful for these same things you have listed too! Take care – Kellan

I so agree with what you said here. There are a lot of people who would have wanted to trade places with us. So thanks God for everything He has blessed us with. May we be able to share what we have to those who have not.

Why does it take the shock of seeing the conditions in Uganda to make us truly thankful for the countless blessings that we have? It’s so easy to get comfortable and forget how truly blessed we are. Thanks for the reminder!

  15. Thanks for sharing. I’m anxious to read her posts. We do have so much…too much. And all that stuff just weighs us down doesn’t it? Guess I say that as I’m trying to clean out the stuff from the storage room….17 years of just stuff.
Blessings on your day sweet one.

  16. I have not been to her site lately. Thanks for sharing.
