Hailey Singing for You

March 5th, 2009 Melanie Posted in Hailey | 12 Comments »

Hailey loves to watch the videos that my cousin Beka posts of her daughter Anika on their blog.  So, Hailey asked if she could make a video to put on our blog for Anika to watch.  Here is the video that Hailey made for Anika to watch- and of course you’re all welcome to watch it too!  (It’s only about 30 seconds long.)

We Have a Buyer!

March 3rd, 2009 Melanie Posted in Me | 18 Comments »

As you know our house went up for sale last week on Thursday.  Our real estate agent set up a couple of appointments for Saturday.  Then he held our open house on Sunday which had a good turn out.  One of the appointments from Saturday came back on Sunday for a second look around.  Then on Sunday evening they gave us an offer for our house.  It was a good offer, pretty close to what we were asking for, so we accepted it.

So now we have to have the house inspection done.  We don’t know yet when it will be (they buyers have to schedule it), but it will have to be done by Sunday.  Once the buyers sign off on the home inspection we will feel pretty comfortable that the sale will go through.  The buyers will still need to have their loan approved- but they were already pre-qualified so it shouldn’t be a problem.  Although with our crazy economy, you just never know.

Our real estate agent has said he will continue to show our house though, just in case any problems do come up with the buyers we can hopefully have a back up offer.  So, I am still trying to keep our house as clean as possible but I am not stressing over it at all.

Anyhoo, please pray that everything goes smoothly!  I’ll keep you updated with what is going on.

I’m Still Here

February 27th, 2009 Melanie Posted in Me | 13 Comments »

I realize that it’s been over a week since I’ve posted.  And that must be some sort of record for me.  It’s not that I don’t have anything to say- because I’ve actually written several posts in my head- it’s the lack of time.

Anyhoo- our house if officially for sale.  Our agent listed it today… apparently Thursday is a good day to list houses.  Our agent is scheduling appointments for Saturday and our open house will be on Sunday.  I know this is not the best time to be selling a house so we are hopeful that it won’t take too long to sell.

In case you forgot- last week I asked all of you for advice about a center piece for my kitchen table and you all gave me some really great ideas!  I loved the fruit bowl idea- which was what most of you suggested- but I didn’t want to have to keep making trips to the store to keep my center piece full.  When my parents came up to help us get a few projects done last weekend my mom brought me a beautiful floral center piece to use.  See how lovely it looks?

The sign people came and put up our for sale sign today.  It looks so funny to see it in front of our house.  And even though I really, really want to move I felt a little sad when I saw it go up.  If we could just buy some land in the town we want to be in and bring our house with us… and also some of our neighbors… it would be just perfect.

Anyhoo, the center piece is on the table and the for sale sign is in front of our house.  Now we just need a buyer.

That Was Fun

February 17th, 2009 Melanie Posted in Hailey, In My Opinion, Rich | 13 Comments »

We went to Home Depot to get a few things that we needed as we prepare to put our house up for sale.  A few things.

Since we were only going to get a few things I told Hailey she could walk instead of riding in the cart.

First up- new tile thingies for our foyer.  That took about 5 minutes.  Nice and easy- we found something we liked.  It wasn’t too expensive.  Rich put it in our cart.  Done.

Second up- Some light cover things for our downstairs bathroom.  We found exactly what we needed.  For some reason Rich had to take 10 minutes looking at the things we needed- even though there was only one choice.  So, Hailey started running away from me.  She had two reminders and then ended up in the cart.  Screaming.

Third- We had to get some caulking stuff for our bathroom.  I figured this would be the simplest of all- it should take 30 seconds and we could be on our way.  Wrong.  First of all there was a huge section of caulk to choose from.  More choices of caulking stuff than there were tile choices.  So Rich stared at the wall for 10 minutes or so.  I pointed out that there was a special caulk made specifically for bathrooms and kitchens.  Rich wanted to know why it cost a dollar more.

By this time Hailey was trying to stand up and climb out of the cart.  So I told her if she didn’t sit down she’d have to wear the seatbelt.  She stood up.  As I was putting the seatbelt on, Hailey was screaming, “No, Mommy!  No, Mommy!  There might be germs.  Don’t put the seatbelt on me!”  She is definitely my daughter.

Finally (a LONG time later) after deciding which kind of caulking to get, then deciding on which container size to get and finally deciding on what color to get we were on our way home.  (After paying of course.)  Hailey fell asleep for about 10 minutes in the car and when I tried to carry her into her bed she woke up.  And those 10 minutes were her nap for the day.

I hope the whole process is this much fun!
