Merry Christmas!

Hailey tells the Christmas story:

And just in case you need a translation:

“We gave presents at Christmas cuz it’s Jesus birthday.
Long ago an angel told … she would have a … named Jesus.
Mary and her husband Joseph were very happy, but they had to get ready to that baby.
That’s Mary, that’s Joseph and that’s the bed.
I’m scratching my ear.
They had to take a long trip to Bethlehem.
Joseph rode a donkey and Joseph walked.
Many people… got to Bethlehem, many people were there.
There was no place for them to stay… there was no place for them to stay.
We skipped a page. We skipped one.
They slept in a stable with a cow and donkey.
That night baby Jesus was born.
Along came an angel.
Donkey.  And baby Jesus was not born.
They give presents cuz they loved him, so much.
We gotta show our love.
… and Jesus birthday.
Happy Birthday to You baby Jesus.
Oh… there’s a little cow.  Look at the little cow.
Happy Birthday
That’s the end.

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

She Just Needed a Little Time

December 22nd, 2008 Melanie Posted in Hailey 10 Comments »

So, remember a few weeks ago when I posted about Hailey’s visit with Santa?  Here is your reminder:

”I don’t sit on Santa’s lap.  I just want to stand by him.”

In the last few weeks Hailey’s opinion has changed.  We have gone several times to see Santa and this last time we went she was not shy at all.

Hailey went right to him, with a nice big hug.

They talked for a while.  And since no one was around, they even sang ”We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “Jingle Bells” together.

And of course, they posed for a picture.  (It’s too bad that Santa didn’t look a little happier, but oh well.)

Just For Fun

December 14th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Hailey, The Things She Says 18 Comments »

Here are a few of the fun things that Hailey has said or done recently:

I was standing in the kitchen the other day and Hailey walked up behind me and pulled my pants part of the way down (I was wearing sweat pants) and said, “Do you need a little Desitin?”

**********

Hailey said, “I need to find my Bugs Rabbit” while looking for her stuffed Bugs Bunny.

**********

I was trying to get Hailey to hold my hand and she didn’t want to.  So I pretended to cry.  Hailey said, “You pouting, Mommy?”

**********

Hailey had a dog treat in her hand that she was supposed to be giving to Dottie.  Instead she decided to taste it for herself.  I asked her, “Did you just taste Dottie’s treat?”  She replied, “No.”  I said, “Are you lying to me?”  And she said, “Yes, my is.  My so sorry.”

**********

I have a Christmas decoration on our piano that Hailey knows she is not supposed to touch.  I guess the temptation to touch it is just too much because she told me, “You need to move this so I can’t reach it.”

**********

Hailey pronounces our last name- “ho-sav-ick” and when she says thank you it sounds like “gank you”

My Little Turkey

December 3rd, 2008 Melanie Posted in Celebrations, Hailey 7 Comments »

See my little turkey? Isn’t she cute?

This is a cute turkey costume that my mom made for Hailey. She made them for her kindergarteners at school and made an extra one for Hailey. And as you can see, Hailey loved it!

And I am sorry to say that that is the only picture I have to share from our Thanksgiving fun. We had a blast but I just didn’t take a whole lot of pictures. I know what you’re thinking- what kind of blogger doesn’t take at least a few pictures? A bad one!

Anyhoo- we had a wonderful Thanksgiving at my parents house- my mom made a delicious meal. And we all ate until we couldn’t move. Then we rested for a little while and then ate some more. And that is what we did all weekend long.

We spent some time during the weekend shopping (in between meals) and I got a little bit done. Hailey was so good and very cooperative during our shopping trips. Having “Gramma” and “Pa” there helped a lot because she is so much more cooperative for them than she is for me. One night at the mall Hailey visited Santa twice (there weren’t any other kids around). She still wouldn’t sit on his lap but she did give him a hug, so she’s getting a little closer. The second time she visited him he sang “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” to her and it was so cute. Santa had an amazing voice and Hailey just watched him and listened to him. And can you believe I didn’t have my camera to get a picture? Bad mommy, I know.

We got home yesterday and I’m still hiding from my scale and the bad news I know it will be bringing.

How was your Thanksgiving?
