The Things Hailey Says

June 13th, 2011 Melanie Posted in Hailey, The Things She Says 1 Comment »

This one is really old but apparently I never posted it- We watched The Grinch back at Christmas time and Hailey started out saying she didn’t like the Grinch and that he was a bad guy.  After she watched for a little while she said, “I think the Grinch just needs someone to love him.”

********

Hailey came out of her room holding her scissors and said, “Mom, next time you need to cut my hair, guess what you can use?” So I asked her if she had cut her hair. She said, “Why? Does it look like I did?”

********

When we decided it was time to tell Hailey that she is going to be a big sister in December- we told her that we had something we wanted to tell her. She was pretty excited to hear whatever we were going to tell her.  But after we told her, she said “Aren’t you going to tell me something fun?”

********

We told Hailey that we are going to need to move her toys out of the playroom and into her bedroom and our family room so we can use the playroom as a room for the baby.  Later, I overheard Hailey tell Rich that instead of moving her toys out of the playroom that maybe the baby could just sleep in the garage.

********

While reading a book about being a big sister I noticed that Hailey’s eyes were tearing up.  I asked her if she had gotten something in her eye.  She said, “No, it’s a nice story and it’s making me cry.”

********

Hailey was not listening so I started counting, which usually makes her run to do whatever she is supposed to be doing. Instead she just stood there and when I got to 3 she looked at me and said, “Well, now what?”

********

Hailey was jumping on the couch in the living room and I was in the hallway where I could not see her and said, “You’d better not be jumping on the couch.”  So she said, “How did you know I was jumping on the couch?” And I said, “Moms know everything.” So she said, “Well I think you could just hear it.”  Then about a few minutes later she said, “Did you know I just tooted?”  Not thinking about our previous conversation I said, “No.” She replied, “Well I guess moms don’t know everything.”

********

We found a gross looking caterpillar/centipede/ something or other in our yard and couldn’t figure out what it was. Hailey wanted to bring it to show Pa, because as she said, “Pa knows everything, doesn’t he mom?”

Mother’s Day

June 12th, 2011 Melanie Posted in Celebrations, Hailey No Comments »

Since it’s almost Father’s Day I decided it was time to get caught up on my blogging and post about Mother’s Day.

Hailey’s pre-k class had a Mother’s Day Tea that was sooooo wonderful!  When the moms arrived each child came and escorted his or her mom to her seat.

Hailey in her seat next to me at the table, holding the flower she made for me.

Smiling next to her food- we had salad and sandwiches and cookies.  The kids made everything and it was so delicious!

Then the teachers held up a picture each kid had made for his/her mom and read something the kids had said about their moms.  We had to try to guess which one was about us.

This is the picture Hailey drew- and I recognized Hailey’s drawing right away.

These were the things Hailey said about me.  So cute!

It was such a nice Mother’s Day Tea and I had the best time!

Here is a close up of the flower and vase Hailey made for me.

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day!!

T- Ball

June 4th, 2011 Melanie Posted in Hailey No Comments »

Here’s some pictures from Hailey’s first week of T-ball, back at the beginning of May.

She’s the one wit the pink and black glove covering her face :-)

Got a hit!

Running home

Getting the ball

Pretty Little Miss

Running the bases, at the 2nd game

Yay!

At first Hailey didn’t really like T-ball.  Before her second game I told her to hurry up and get ready or she wouldn’t be able to go.  Her response was, “That’s okay, I don’t really like it anyways.”  But since then she has started to really love it. She asks everyday if she has t-ball that night.  Now she only has a few more weeks left and she loves going!
