I Have Nothing To Say…

February 16th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Blah Blah Blogging | 9 Comments »

…and yet I still feel led to post.  I did post on Our Happy Happenings, my very first Friday’s Feast, so feel free to stop over there to read an actual post.

Since it was so much fun to do my random post on Tuesday it’s going to be another all over the place post today.

If you haven’t checked out 5 Minutes for Mom recently- be sure to stop by and check out the information about the upcoming Ultimate Blog Party.  It’s a great way to meet some new bloggy friends and to hopefully gain some new readers at your blog.   It is being held the week of March 7-14, so you still have time to decide if you want to participate and what you want to do if you do participate.

Next Friday, February 22, Pam is hosting another round of Random Recipes.  This time we are going to post our favorite breakfast recipe.  I don’t know about you- but I love breakfast.  I love it so much that quite often we have breakfast for dinner.  So, be sure to think up something good and post your recipe next Friday, then stop over at Pam’s to sign Mr. Linky so everyone can visit your blog and see your yummy recipe.

One of my favorite blogs, and one I read everyday, is BooMama.  Her posts are always excellent, but I just have to tell you that this week- her posts have really been touching me.  She is in Uganda right now with Compassion where a team of bloggers have been live blogging about what they have been seeing.  One post in particular, The Faces, left me with tears streaming down my face.  Some of the things I worry about and think are important just do not even matter.  I have never seen or even imagined the poverty that BooMama has been talking about.  It never even occurred to me that children could be so poor that they wouldn’t even know what their own faces looked like- because they have never even seen a mirror.  I have just been rethinking what truly matters and how fortunate we really are.

Lastly, be sure to come back for Meme Monday.  Save up your memes and your awards, post them on Monday- then come here to sign Mr. Linky and visit the other participants.

Have a wonderful weekend and make sure you stop by to read some of BooMama’s posts from this week.  I guarantee that your heart will be touched.

Thankful Thursday #12

February 14th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Thankful Thursday | 27 Comments »

Many of you have been following along with the problems that Hailey has been having with her eyes and the unusual rolling her eyes do.  So I thought I’d update that this week the eye doctor called us back after watching the video we had left with him.  He told us that he really thinks that she simply has a childhood tic.  He said that tics are quite common in children and most of the time they go away as they get older.  He told us the same thing the neurologist had told us- this is just something that some children do as their brains mature.  So, now that I have heard the same thing from two different professionals (who did not discuss it with each other) I really feel a lot better.  I am so thankful that this is nothing to worry about and that Hailey will out grow it.

Since it is Valentine’s Day I thought it would be appropriate to say that I am very thankful for Rich.  He is a wonderful man, the love of my life, and an awesome dad.  I am truly blessed and I am so thankful to have him in my life.  Check out my Thursday Thirteen on Our Happy Happenings to read 13 of my favorite things about him!

Just Some Random Stuff

February 11th, 2008 Melanie Posted in Brooke, Hailey, Rich | 16 Comments »

Now for those of you who read Pam’s blog you’re going to be scratching your heads and saying, “Wait a minute, am I at Random Thoughts or Livin’ With Me?”  Beacause this post?  It’s going to be quite random.  And I think random is good- that’s why Pam’s blog is one of my favorites.   And if you don’t read her blog- it’s time you start!

Anyhoo- onto my random post.

First of all, I have decided to start posting again every day on Our Happy Happenings.    Just posting here at Livin’ With Me is not enough to satisfy my blogging addiction ;)   So, if you want to- you can go back to checking there every day too.  I’m going to use Our Happy Happenings more for the various daily memes- such as Fun Monday, Tackle It Tuesday, Wordless Wednesday, Thursday Thirteen, and Friday Feast.  I’ll still be posting daily here too- so don’t stop visiting me here!

Next on the list of my randomness.  Over the weekend Rich and Brooke went to an event that helps to raise money for a charity.  There were many people, who in my opinion just might have to be completely crazy.  What did the crazy people do?  They went into the freezing cold water.  The water temperature was 37 degrees and I don’t actually know what the air temperature was at the time, but later in the day when I checked it was in the single digits.  (I know some of my Canadian readers are probably thinking, “Wow!  Single digits- that sounds great to me.”)  So, while I think it’s great that this was done for a charity- I prefer to stay in my warm cozy home and just write a check to help the cause.  Anyways- Rich and Brooke were only planning to watch the crazy people.  But, apparently it was really hard to see without actually getting in yourself.

And so.

Rich and Brooke ended up in the water.  Rich only up to a little above his ankles and Brooke up to her knees.  So, they aren’t quite as crazy as some of the people who put their entire bodies into the freezing water.

And now here’s a few pictures of the fun.

The nice balmy water, at 37 degrees

Some amazingly brave people who must have very thick skin

While you can’t exactly see it here, Brooke is in the water.  And I can assure you she went in up to her knees because I saw her wet jeans when she got home.

As soon as they got home Brooke went right to the shower to warm up her legs.  Of course, Hailey and Dottie had to watch.

And now the last part of my random post. Hailey loves to sit under our kitchen table and is constantly bumping her head. So, we thought maybe she’d like a tunnel so she would have something to climb through.  So, here are a few pictures of the new tunnel.

Livin’ With Me

Hailey enjoys crawling through the tunnel.

Dottie also enjoys crawling through the tunnel.

Livin’ With Me

Apparently the tunnel is also a good place to read your Bible.

And also a good place for a quick nap.
