Remembering Virginia Tech

Today I am thinking of those who were effected on April 16th 2007.  I am thankful that my family was safe that day.  I pray for those families who lost a loved one and for those whose lives were forever changed.

Happy Easter!

April 12th, 2009 Melanie Posted in Celebrations, Hailey | 14 Comments »

I hope everyone is having a great Easter!  I wanted to share a few pictures with you of our Easter celebration.

Livin With Me

Last night Hailey dyed some Easter eggs.  She loved dropping her eggs into the dye.

Hailey was pleased with the results she got.

This morning when Hailey got up there was a trail of Easter eggs coming from her room, down the hall and into the living room.

At the end of the trail she found her Easter basket that the Easter bunny hid.

After breakfast and too much chocolate we got ready for church.

Hailey held still for a few seconds to pose for a picture in her Easter dress.  (If you look closely you can see her hands are still a bit blue from dying her Easter eggs.)

We had a great service at church.  Although I did feel a little bad for the ladies in Hailey’s Sunday School class.  A room full of 2-3 year old children who had chocolate for breakfast is not a place I would want to be!

Hope you’re all having a great Easter!

John 3:16 (King James Version)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

27 More Days…

April 9th, 2009 Melanie Posted in Me | 7 Comments »

…until we close on our house.  And we do not have a new house lined up to move into.

We have been staying at my parents house again, looking for a new house to buy.  We found one we liked and put an offer on it.  At the same time someone else was making an offer for the same house- and it was a better offer.  So, once again we lost out on a house we wanted.  We have looked and looked and I don’t think there are any other houses left for us to look at.

Today we are heading back home.  We have some paperwork to take care of for the closing of our house and a few other things to take care of.  I am going to get lots of packing done.  Then we will be heading back to my parents house to do some more house hunting.

Apparently we sold our house in buyers market and we are trying to buy a house in a sellers market.  And it is soooo frustrating and discouraging.

Hailey turned 2 1/2 this week and I’ll be posting about that as soon as I have a few minutes to write that post.  Have a great weekend and a Happy Easter!

More House Hunting

April 3rd, 2009 Melanie Posted in Me | 8 Comments »

Once again we are going house hunting this weekend.  You probably know that a couple of weeks ago we spent about a week going house hunting.  We found a house that we really liked but could not get the sellers to come down in their price.  So we decided to walk away and keep looking.  I really wanted the house and it was hard to walk away from it, but the price the sellers wanted was not a fair price when considering recent sales in the same neighborhood.  And the fact that the house is still for sale and is holding an open house again this weekend (it’s been for sale since December) confirms to me that the price is too high.  I do have to mention that the area we are looking in is not like much of the country- it is not a buyers market where we are looking.  Houses tend to come up for sale- and if the price is good it sells very quickly because there isn’t a whole lot of choice.

So, we have been watching for houses the last couple of weeks and have a big list of houses we want to see this weekend.  Our real estate agent has appointments set up for us for most of the weekend and we are really praying that we are going to find the right house this weekend.  Our home we are living in now will be closing on May 6th.  Since that is only a  little over a month away I am getting really nervous that we might not find a house in time.  I know the right house is out there for us and we just have to be patient until we find it.

Pray that we can find the perfect house for us this weekend.
